It took an embarrassingly long time for me to work out how to spell downpour, and I may have even had to look it up a dictionary – time for some remedial English classes! The weather gods continued their campaign of terror, ending off a soggy week with a day of non-stop torrential rain.
However, we managed to end the week on a festive note, going round to a friend’s house for homemade potaje de garbanzos y bacalao y panecillos – chickpea and cod stew with dumplings! We snuggled round the brasero, and chatted for a few hours, before heading to the train station to catch our train back to Madrid. From the window, we could see the motorways almost ground to a halt with traffic jams – the last Sunday of Semana Santa is not a good day to drive around Spain! So lucky we decided to take the train!
