28/3/13 – Santo

Jueves Santo is a big deal in Linares – there are 3 separate processions, 4 if you count El Nazareno which starts at 3 am and provides an excellent excuse to stay up late. Due to the weather, we only got to see part of one procession, and they weren’t even in full procession mode – just preparing their instruments by the bull ring, and getting ready to meet up with the rest of the penitentes.

Luckily, we found weather appropriate alternative activities – sampling a typical Linarense dessert – chachepó (cake soaked in aniseed liqueur) con mistela (sweet wine). Delicious!
