11/2/13 – Old and New

I walk by this corner every day and always reflect upon the contrast between the graffiti (this particular head is all over our neighbourhood) and the virgin plaque. I don’t know if the plaque is part of the street sign, or if a resident chose to place it there, but the juxtaposition just seems very modern Spanish to me.

A hectic day today, with a morning trip to the fruteria, where every old lady decided to push past me rather than say excuse me. For all the ‘educación’ of the Spanish, the older generation leave much to be desired.  Then several private classes, followed by a lightning speed trip to Alcampo to buy a blanket, a driving theory class (how to lose points off your license) and the most incredible blue cheese and anchovy pizza courtesy of my gourmet boyfriend.
